The beach inspires me to do many things, 100 sit-ups, eat healthier,go gto the gym, but those are short lived, spur of the moment, inspirations but no matter which beach I go to I will always find long-lasting inspiration from the colors, textures, and the lighting, that I will use in my block-art.
The one beach I've been drawing most of my inspiration from is the beach 20 minutes away from my house. It is a true Mississippi gulf coast beach, the water is questionably brown and the sand will always be littered with trash. Why do I get inspiration from such a dreadful sounding beach? Because all of the times I'm laughing with friends and making new memories.
Friends and Family at the beach are a big part of my art but colors will always be the most dominant attribute that shows through in my block-art. I use memories and pictures from a past visit with my aunt in St. John, USVI. The color of the water, the plants, and the sea life are what drive my inspiration.

Instead of using a wooden block to paint on I use a wooden canvas!
Before I spray painted a pattern into the background I painted my Start Simple flowers then I slathered the whole canvas in Self Leveling Clear Gel ( GOLDEN Artist Colors ) to give it a nice glossy finish to it.
I then found my banana yellow spray paint and my lime green spray paint and used my stencils to fill in the blank space. To finish off the look I painted the border red and I put a hook in it!
